Hospital Ministry
The heart of the
WBM ministry is Hospital Bautista. Hospital Bautista is located in
Guaimaca, Honduras, which is 88 KM northeast of the capital city,
Tegucigalpa. Guaimaca is in the department of Francisco Morrison,
a high mountain area of Honduras Hospital Bautista has a staff of
approximately thirty, including three doctors, one dentist, nurses,
lab techs, x-ray techs, clerical workers, pharmacists, security, and
other paid and volunteer workers.
This WBM ministry is one of a kind, in that Hospital Bautista is filled with reminders of God's love. Every part of the facility is designed to win souls, promote spiritual understanding and growth, as well as providing physical healing of patients and visitors. It is estimated that more than 300,000 people are being served by this facility, including Guaimaca, neighboring cities, six orphanages, and most of the departments of Francisco Morrison and Olancho. Doctors, nurses, technicians, and other volunteers from the States serve in this facility alongside their Honduran counterparts. Many doctors, and other medical professionals, are provided through World Medical Missions, a ministry of Samaritan's Purse, headed by Franklin Graham in Boone, N.C. Hospital Bautista was opened for service on September 7, 2003. During the first year more than 30,000 people received top quality medical service, administered with Christian love. Hundreds accepted Christ as a direct result of receiving the message of God's love from their doctor, or other hospital staff member, while receiving medical care. Each patient and visitor is told of Jesus' love, of His willingness to forgive sins, and given an opportunity to accept Christ as his/her personal Savior. Hospital Bautista is now in full operation, and ministering to the physical and spiritual needs of more than 100 patients each day. The hospital's staff are trained to know how to tell others about Christ. They often provide patients with tracts, study guides, and Bibles. Hospital Bautista is open for service five days each week. Construction of additional phases of Hospital Bautista continue as funds become available. Current medical services include general care, minor surgery, pharmacy, x-ray, laboratory, and general surgery. Hospital Bautista provides 24/7 ambulance service, birthing, and emergency services. An eighteen bed addition, including three labor/delivery suites offers over night care. The completed hospital will include more than 40,000 sq. ft. Completion is expected as funds are received. Donations for hospital construction should be marked "Hospital Construction" or click the donate button to use PayPal. All donations are tax deductible.
